The national average cost per mile for a 2005 vehicle has dropped $70 for the
year to 68.2 cents per mile, or $6,820 a year to own. Of course the type of vehicle that you drive reflects in the
cost. Surprisingly the cost for small cars went up $310, midsize cars down $190 and large cars down $330 a year. All
SUV and minivan costs went up as the cost of gas brings up the average. The study uses a 10,000 mile average over 5
years of ownership and takes in account gas, oil, maintenance and tires, insurance, depreciation, finance charges,
license, title, taxes, registration and plates. Is all this work worth the iffy results?
