Overview
The 2025 Volkswagen Jetta compact sedan pairs a turbocharged 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine with an eight-speed automatic transmission across four trim levels, delivering 158 horsepower and a standard IQ.Drive safety suite on every model. Front-wheel drive is standard throughout, with adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist, blind-spot monitoring, and forward-collision warning with automatic emergency braking included, regardless of trim. The 2025 Jetta competes with the Honda Civic, Toyota Corolla, Hyundai Elantra, and Kia K4, distinguishing itself through composed handling, a generous cabin, and a standard feature set that rivals frequently charge extra for.
What’s New for 2025?
Volkswagen refreshes the Jetta with revised styling and new technology. A redesigned front fascia introduces new upper and lower grille designs and LED headlights, while a new trunk lid gains a full-width light bar connecting the taillights.
Inside, the dashboard is redesigned around a floating 8-inch touchscreen and a new dual-zone Climatronic Touch climate control interface. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto become standard on the SE and above. The SE also gains a wireless device charger and SiriusXM satellite radio, and the SEL gains more upholstery choices, including brown/Titan Black Vienna leather.
The manual transmission is discontinued across S through SEL trims, making the eight-speed automatic the sole gearbox for those buyers. Two new exterior colors, Monterey Blue Pearl and Monument Gray, expand the palette to eight choices.
Exterior
The 2025 Jetta has a coupe-like silhouette across its 186.5-inch length, with a roofline that tapers cleanly toward the trunk and a front end defined by slim LED headlights and a revised grille. The base S rides on 16-inch two-tone machined alloy wheels with a 10-spoke design, while the Sport steps to 17-inch two-tone machined alloys and gains an integrated front light bar. The SE shares 17-inch alloys with an updated design, while the SEL features 18-inch alloys. All 17-inch configurations use 205/55 R17 all-season tires; 18-inch wheels wear 225/45 R18 rubber.

Interior
The cabin centers on an 8-inch floating touchscreen paired with an 8-inch digital instrument cluster on S, Sport, and SE trims, upgrading to a 10.25-inch Digital Cockpit Pro on the SEL. Dual-zone Climatronic Touch automatic climate control is standard across the lineup. Seating for five covers Rhombus cloth on the S, embossed cloth on the Sport, perforated CloudTex leatherette on the SE, and perforated Vienna leather on the SEL. The Sport adds heated front seats and the XDS Cross Differential System. The SE gains an 8-way power-adjustable driver seat with lumbar, wireless charging, keyless access, push-button start, and remote start. The SEL adds ventilated front seats, heated rear outboard seats, a panoramic sunroof, and 10-color ambient lighting. Trunk capacity measures 14.1 cubic feet across all trims.

| Base: S | $22,995 |
| Sport | $24,275 |
| Best Value: SE | $25,775 |

The 2025 Volkswagen Jetta price structure rewards buyers who step up to the SE. The upgrade over the Sport adds wireless charging, keyless access, push-button start, remote start, and CloudTex leatherette seating surfaces. The SEL includes genuine leather, ventilated seats, a panoramic sunroof, and the larger digital cluster, but at its price point, it draws direct competition from better-equipped rivals in adjacent segments.

Pros and Cons
Pros
- 40 MPG highway across Sport, SE, and SEL trims
- IQ.DRIVE safety suite standard on every trim
- Eight-speed automatic outclasses CVTs found on most rivals
- Competitive base pricing with strong standard equipment
Cons
- No hybrid or AWD option anywhere in the lineup
- Manual transmission not available
- Hard plastics visible on lower dashboard and door panels
- Powertrain warranty trails Hyundai and Kia coverage
Verdict
The 2025 Volkswagen Jetta makes its case through consistent value rather than standout individual strengths. The turbocharged 1.5-liter engine delivers good low-end torque that feels livelier than its output figure implies, and the standard IQ.Drive suite eliminates the need to spend up for driver assistance technology that rivals charge extra for. The SE is the trim to buy, adding wireless charging, keyless access, remote start, and synthetic leather seating over the Sport for a modest premium. The main weakness is powertrain rigidity with no hybrid, no AWD, and no manual transmission option, limiting the Jetta’s versatility at a time when competitors are expanding their own options in each of those areas.
