Overview
Eight seats, sliding doors, and enough space to swallow a family’s vacation luggage make the 2027 Honda Odyssey minivan a persuasive alternative to three-row SUVs. Its responsive steering, settled ride, and eager naturally aspirated V6 make it unusually pleasant to drive, even during school drop-offs.
Every trim sends 280 horsepower through a 10-speed automatic to the front wheels. The formula is smooth and surprisingly quick, although shoppers seeking hybrid efficiency or all-wheel drive must look elsewhere. The affordable versions deliver most of the expensive models’ everyday usefulness.

What’s New for 2027
The Odyssey enters 2027 without notable mechanical or styling changes. The EX-L, Sport-L, Touring, and Elite trims return, although the EX-L and Sport-L switch to HondaTex synthetic upholstery. Touring and Elite models retain leather. The familiar V6 and flexible seating arrangement continue unchanged.
Exterior
The 2027 Odyssey wears its minivan proportions proudly. A long roof, generous glass area, and low stance serve practicality first, while sculpted bodywork saves it from airport-shuttle anonymity. LED headlights, fog lights, a power moonroof, and power sliding doors come standard.
The EX-L rides on 18-inch alloys, while the other three trims get distinct 19-inch wheels. Every Odyssey has a power tailgate, with hands-free opening exclusive to the Elite. Power sliding doors are particularly welcome when neighboring cars leave barely enough room to squeeze through.

Interior
The Odyssey’s cabin is designed for actual children, not the impeccably behaved ones in brochures. Storage compartments and cupholders abound, while heated front seats, tri-zone climate control, and a 9.0-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto come standard. So do wireless phone charging and CabinTalk, Honda’s built-in intercom.
Magic Slide second-row seats shift sideways for easier access, while a removable center seat preserves 8-passenger capacity. Removing the seats requires effort, but the third-row Magic Seat folds into the floor neatly. Even adults enjoy usable third-row space.
Touring models add a 12.8-inch rear entertainment display, navigation, and CabinWatch rear-seat monitoring. The Elite brings ventilated front seats and upgraded audio. The materials favor durability over luxury, which seems sensible when spilled juice is an occupational hazard.

Price Range and Best Value Trim
The 2027 Honda Odyssey’s price range spans four trims:
| Trim | MSRP |
| EX-L | $43,195 |
| Sport-L | $44,295 |
| Touring | $47,895 |
| Elite | $52,095 |
The EX-L makes the most financial sense. For $43,195, it delivers the same 280-hp V6 and 10-speed automatic as the $52,095 Elite, plus eight seats, Magic Slide functionality, heated front seats, HondaTex upholstery, wireless smartphone integration, and driver-assistance technology. Higher trims add entertainment and comfort features, but the EX-L covers family essentials without the nearly $9,000 premium.

Pros and Cons
Pros:
- Responsive V6 and composed handling
- Eight usable seats and versatile Magic Slide arrangement
- Huge cargo capacity and convenient sliding doors
- Generous standard comfort and safety equipment
Cons:
- No hybrid or all-wheel-drive option
- Less efficient than hybrid rivals

Verdict
The Odyssey excels at family transportation without making its driver miserable. Its lively V6, composed ride, flexible seating, and enormous cargo hold handle school runs and road trips with equal competence. Fuel consumption trails hybrid rivals, and all-wheel drive remains off the menu. But for families valuing clever packaging, easy access, and enjoyable road manners, this minivan remains a compelling choice. The EX-L is the standout.
