The 2026 Toyota Grand Highlander in a Nutshell

Rather than stretching a Highlander and calling it a day, Toyota decided to make a similarly-named car that looks totally different. So far, that strategy seems to be working with the Grand Highlander. Turns out, there’s room for two midsize three-row crossovers in Toyota’s stable.

Introduced in mid-2023, the Grand Highlander is aimed at those looking at the likes of the Hyundai Palisade and Kia Telluride. Apart from the bigger exterior, there’s also more room inside, particularly in the third-row and cargo area. It hasn’t received a major facelift just yet, but there have been rolling updates since its launch.

2026 Toyota Grand Highlander Lease Deals for January

At the time of writing, there is only one lease offer for the Grand Highlander. It’s for the XLE AWD trim that sits above the recently introduced entry-level LE model. That specific grade can be leased for $469 for 36 months with $3,999 due at signing.

It’s not exactly the bargain of the decade, but it’s competitive against the Palisade. As for terms and conditions, it’s $0.15 per mile for all mileage over 10,000 miles per year. This offer is valid until February 2, 2026.

2026 Toyota Grand Highlander Highlights

The Toyota Grand Highlander is available in ten trims with base prices ranging from $41,660 to $59,575. The trims are LE, XLE, Limited, and Platinum for the ICE-powered models, and Hybrid LE, Hybrid XLE, Hybrid Limited, Hybrid Nightshade, Hybrid Max Limited, and Hybrid Max Platinum. All trims come standard with advanced driver assists, tri-zone climate control, wireless phone connectivity, and a power tailgate.

XLE trims (both ICE and hybrid) add wireless charging, heated front seats, and leatherette seats. Limited models add niceties such as a fully digital instrument cluster, an 11-speaker JBL sound system, memory seats, heated and ventilated front seats, and a hands-free tailgate. At the top is the Platinum, which gets a panoramic sunroof standard, a 10-inch head-up display, surround-view monitors, and even ventilated second-row seats. By the way, the Nightshade is essentially a black edition model of the Hybrid Limited.

For powertrains, the standard engine is a 2.4-liter turbo-four with 265 hp, while the hybrids use a 2.5-liter mill mated to a single motor that produces 245 hp. Models badged Hybrid Max pair the 2.4-liter turbo with a hybrid system to kick power up to 362 hp. Hybrid Max models are also all-wheel drive-only.

Final Thoughts

Highlander, or Grand Highlander? Interestingly, the latter has a lower base price. That’s because Highlanders are all-wheel drive-only starting this year, while Grand Highlanders start out with front-wheel drive. All-wheel drive Grand Highlanders are still more expensive than all-wheel drive Highlanders, but not by much.

Either way, the extra wiggle room should be worth it for some families trying to choose between the two. More space and a greater variety of engine options for not much more cash also make it a tempting proposition, even for those looking at other three-row midsize crossovers.
