Shots of the once shrouded
Hyundai Veracruz have leaked onto the internet. The face we saw hiding under
all that covering looks pretty much like we expected, though we're fast becoming of the mind that if you've seen one SUV-shaped
CUV, you've seen them all. The
Veracruz will benefit from a standard 3.8-liter V6 probably putting out at least 263 horsepower like in the
Azera, though probably tuned a bit for more low end torque. The ute's also large enough for a Hideaway third-row seat, though don't expect to be too comfortable back there or have a decent view out thanks to those large D-pillars. All-wheel drive will also be standard, and since it is a Hyundai the Veracruz will come stocked with electronic stability control, side
air bags, and side-curtain
airbags for all three rows. Pricing will be important, as the Hyundai Veracruz will stack up well against the Lambda trio of large CUVs from
General Motors in terms of content, but will likely be priced closer to the
Ford Edge, which lacks a third-row of seating.
Hyundai claims its going after the marketshare of vehicles like the
Honda Pilot,
Nissan Murano,
Subaru B9 Tribeca and the
Lexus RX350, which, as CarScoop point out, is evident in the vehicle's interior design.
