Opel/Vauxhall Astra SportsTourer spy shots – Click above for high-res image gallery

The Opel/Vauxhall Astra Sports Tourer – otherwise known as a wagon or estate – is testing its cold weather chops with minimal camouflage.

Details on the little cargo carrier are slim, but snappers at CarPix tell us that the rear liftgate differs from that on the larger Insignia ST by being separated from the taillights. We are also told that the interior and engine options will be the same as on the five-door hatch, and a spicy GSi model is on the way to fill out the line. It's too bad no one from Buick will tell us in the States, "Yes, you can have it..." You can check it out from various angles in the gallery of high-res photos below.

Seems to be a very nice car.

The GSi will be not the "top" because the "GTC OPC" (Opel Performance Center) will be the top of the range: coupè 3 doors and abut 260-280hp

GM keeping Opel for a reason?
Sure - European sales and platforms for Buicks...
(see the new Regal for more on that...)

Like this better than the Insignia ST, at least more practical. How is the size comparing with the Focus Wagon? It looks pretty big.

I dunno. I like the Regal and think a wagon version would be nice, but I have caveats. I can't remember ever being too terribly concerned about brands before, but something about Buick just makes me want to projectile vomit. It's some sort of combination of ugly cromed-out grill and old-person-smell. Maybe if it were rebranded? Call it anything; Roger, Barry, you name it. I'd buy a Turbo Roger AWD Estate of Maximum Bootius, wouldn't you?

This looks like something that could go on the chevy cruze platform.Let's hope they do it.

as someone in the market for hatch/wagon in the next several months this is something i would consider without hesitation if it were available in the states. a gsi version? gimme, gimme, gimme! just make sure a manual is part of the mix!

That's a pretty handsome, if not necessarily thrilling, car. Come on GM, show us you kept Opel around for a reason.
