Spy Shots: 2010 Honda Odyssey to get more corporate schnoz

The corporate grille that's been inflicted on all of Honda's recent cars and trucks continues to spread roughshod through the rest of the automaker's line and the 2010 Honda Odyssey minivan isn't immune. While it's hard to get excited about a vehicle that's sole purpose in life is to transport humans and their stuff from one place to another, the Odyssey has always been one of the best options available, and while we're anything but smitten with the new schnoz, it isn't going to change the driving dynamics, and you can't actually see that six-sided, angular beak from behind the wheel anyway. The new grille joins a front-end that looks a bit more aggressive and better integrated than before, with what appears to be a steeper slope towards the ground from the windshield. The rest of the van appears unchanged.

They went from the pleasant and inoffensive grille of the 08/09 Odysseys back to the glaringly ugly grille of the 05s-07s.
Coming up next: that grille on the Accord and Civic.

i was going to post almost the same thing, lol.
IMO, that grill takes away the "minivan-ness" of this mini-van.

How many more face-lifts are going to occur before Honda realizes that the grille is ugly? And that goes for Acura, too.

Very good point. I understand this wave of making the front ends of every car you make unique to help brand your look/company, but if the front end is horrible, you only manage to slowly bring down every car you make.
I used to not mind the Odyssey, now it's annoying.

It looks like some kind of insect. What is going on over at honda these days. It's like they lost their mojo. However, no matter how successful an automaker is, they eventually make glaring errors in judgement.
It seems to be going around these days. The only automakers that seem to have somewhat shaken the ugly design bug "lately" is GM and Hyundai.

Whew! I thought Honda had forgotten about the Odyssey, since we never saw a hybrid version (for example).
But now we know that it has not escaped their attention. They've given it the same disastrous makeover the rest of their lineup got.

Oh my god that is not a pretty sight, unlike the JDM version which actually looks sleek and cool...

I thought the Odyssey just got a facelift? no?

I like cars.
I like my Odyssey, generally for different reasons than I like cars.
However, when you add on a schnoz this ugly, it kills whatever appeal the thing had.
huh. Why is that a good idea?

Honda's don't sell on looks.That's for sure.
If they sold hot looking vehicles they'd own the market.

I don't know who's in charge of grille design at Honda/Acura, but maybe they should take a break...

Someone really needs to tell Honda that this shield nonsense is just plain awful. You'd think they would get the hint after a while, or simply look at it and determine it's hideousness, but apparently not.

With the Odyssey just getting a facelift, it's probably a fair bet this is just someone's photoshopped image.

I'm surprised the 2010 is just a facelift rather than a full redesign, given that this generation came out in 2005.
I liked the 2008-2009 grille. This one is just UGLY. It makes it look less like a minivan and more like an ugly SUV.

given the source of this photo, how sure are we that it is legit? let's face it, "vince" antoinne or whatever the heck his real name is, he's not the most reliable guy.

If Honda was going to have all their cars share a "corporate nose", they should have used the Civic nose, not the Pilot nose (or is it the Ridgeline that first wore that ugly proboscis?). And, while on the Honda subject, the old TL was a great looking car - the new TL is, in my opinion, terrible.

As long as the Accord coupe doesn't get the grille-within-a-grille them I'll be happy. That one of the few good looking cars Honda/Acura has produced in the last few models years IMHO. The only thing this grille looks OK on is the Ridgeline, and that's mostly due to the Ridgeline's poor looks than anything else.
