A Ford GT with Provenance
Ford’s Heritage fleet has several tasty cars to choose from. While not all of them are for sale, nor will they likely ever be, there is one that Ford’s ready to part ways with. The car in question is a 2006 GT Heritage Edition, finished in the iconic Gulf livery. Only 343 examples were ever commissioned, making it one of the rarest Ford GTs in existence. Moreover, this particular car is serial number 003. Not only is it one of the earliest Heritage Edition GTs built, it’s also one of the least driven, with just 8,435 miles on the odometer.

Ford built the Heritage Edition GT to commemorate the 50th anniversary of its historic 1-2-3 finish at the 1966 24 Hours of Le Mans. According to Blue Oval, the Heritage package was a $13,000 option and featured painted roundels in addition to retro-inspired interior accents. The rest of the car is pretty much carried over, with a 550-horsepower 5.4L supercharged V8 under the hood paired to a six-speed manual transmission.
Barrett-Jackson Handles the Auction
Ford used the car very little, mostly for media drives and marketing purposes. However, it’s worth mentioning that this GT has a bit of an accident history. The car met with a low-speed rear-end collision and, in a separate event, hit a ditch, damaging its underbody. However, both concerns were addressed, and the supercar was later put back to its original state.

Barrett-Jackson’s 2025 Scottsdale Fall Auction witnessed the 2006 Heritage GT change hands. Ford spokeswoman Hallie Robinson told USA TODAY, “The proceeds of the sale will go toward the restoration and maintenance of the Ford Heritage Fleet.” Ted Ryan, Ford’s Heritage and Brand Manager, said, “In fact, some of the proceeds from this sale will be used to get our Ford of England GT collection in superb running shape for the 60th anniversary of Le Mans next year.”
The lucky owner, in addition to taking custody of this beautiful Ford supercar, is handed a certificate of authenticity and an original build book documenting the car’s production in detail. Head over to Barrett-Jackson’s website to see how much the Heritage GT sold for.
