Does your garage look like a nightmare? If so, you’re not alone, as a recent survey found that almost 40% of American homeowners describe their garages in this way. This shouldn’t come as a huge shock, since the survey also found that nearly half say their garages are the hardest parts of their homes to keep neat and organized.
Purchasing the Sterilite 8.5-Gallon Waterproof Storage Bin won’t instantly give you the garage of your dreams. However, it can put you on the path to organizing it more effectively. It also costs very little, selling for just $9 at Walmart, which makes buying a bunch and using them to build a better garage organization system more budget-friendly.
Audience FavoriteWhile this is far from the largest Sterilite storage bin Walmart sells, it’s surprisingly spacious for its low cost. It measures almost 18 inches long, 15 inches wide, and 12 inches tall, making it ideal for storing tools, car parts, and other supplies typically kept in a garage. It also has a clear plastic lid that makes it easy to see what’s inside at a glance and a deep recessed design that makes it suitable for stacking.
These are all great features, but what really takes this bin over the top is its IP68-rated, silicone, gasketed seal. It prevents air, moisture, and dust from getting inside the bin when it’s sealed shut, even going so far as to make it fully submersible, so you won’t have to worry about water impacting its contents at any point.
This storage bin can also safely hold up to about 25 pounds, and it’s remarkably easy to carry, thanks to its comfort-grip handles. It’s even equipped with extra-wide latches to keep it tightly closed so nothing spills when you move it around your garage or another part of your home.
“It has a perfect airtight seal and can be used to store anything,” one reviewer wrote. “It’s versatile enough to use in your garage or any other part of your home.”
Another reviewer wrote, “It’s fixing a long-overdue issue in my home. I used to wonder, ‘Where are all my tools?’ I put them all in this, and I can finally find my tools again now that they’re all in one place.”
