At a recent media preview for the 2006 North American International Auto Show, Thai-Tang, director of Ford’s SVT
unit, told Inside Line that the performance
group is safe from cost-cutting scrutiny within the company. Thai-Tang said that SVT is currently hard at work on the
2007 Ford Shelby Cobra GT500 and the Sport Trac Adrenalin. Anne Stevens, Ford’s new executive VP and COO of the
Americas is “committed to performance” Inside Line reports, and her history on the matter is testament to that fact.
Stevens fought to have the Ford GT exported into Canada.
No one knows what other Blue Oval vehicles SVT is working on, but the
Fusion and
Edge are possible, if not likely,
candidates.
