In
a similar fashion
to their union brethren below the 49th parallel, the Canadian Auto Workers (CAW) Local 707 union is looking to create
preferred parking zones at the assembly plant in Oakville, Ontario, Canada.
According to the Globe and
Mail
, union representatives and Ford Motor Co. of Canada Ltd. have met and are currently discussing such a policy
that would also include Ford-owned brands such as Aston Martin and Jaguar. Because, you know, so many Canadian
autoworkers shop the aisles of Ford’s PAG brands.

The  emphasis would be to provide the preferred
parking spots to vehicles built by either the CAW or the UAW, which, said local president Gary Beck, leaves him unsure
how to handle the Mexican-built Ford Fusion or the Japanese-built Mazdas. Damn this global economy!

The
Oakville plant is the first Canadian Ford facility to consider such a policy. CAW president Buzz Hargrove opposes the
policy.
