Faraday Future continues to drop hints that its electric crossover will take on the Tesla Model X electric SUV in terms of performance and features. This time, those hints are in the form of
patents the startup is taking out, according to
The Truth About Cars. The company is working on an inverter designed offer enhanced acceleration capabilities specifically for electric vehicles, and potential names for those enhanced modes include “thrilling” and “exhilarating.” Sounds a bit Ludicrous-like to us. The patent also includes an image of a vehicle with camouflaged wheels that would include an electric motor mounted on the inside. Faraday Future may also be working on a feature that would make the electric vehicle’s accelerator pedal stiffer or softer, depending on driving mode.

The patent is the latest hint that the company may be looking to take on the Model X. Last month, Faraday Future released a teaser video showing
a concept-crossover EV doing laps at what was likely California’s Willow Springs Raceway. In a less-inspiring development last month, reports surfaced that Faraday Future was
as much as $46 million behind on construction payments for its factory in North Las Vegas. Faraday Future and its construction vendor AECOM both said at the time that they were cooperating on the issue, but work
has now reportedly stopped.

Faraday Future received its first US patent earlier this year with its power inverter, and said its inverter marked an improvement over the company’s competitors because it doesn’t use off-the-shelf components. That patent followed Faraday Future’s splash at January’s CES Conference in Las Vegas. There, the company showed off its super-futuristic FFZERO1 concept vehicle, whose layout puts the electric vehicle’s battery cells between the front and rear axles.
