Disasters cause trouble for Mazda

A fire at the Mazda plant near Hiroshima, Japan on December 15 will cause a build delay for 35,000 vehicles including the RX-8, Mazda announced last week. Mazda is already shifting production to other plants where feasible. In a year that was to bring Mazda easy profits, this was not what they expected to ring in 2005. Strong storms in August and September caused a 7,000 unit loss at their Japan plants. If there could be a good side, it forces some of Mazda’s higher inventory cars down to a more manageable level.
