WRX owner ordered to pay $75K to Subaru in warranty dispute case

Subaru of America was awarded 75 large late last week under California’s Consumer Legal Remedies Act. A ballsy WRX owner tried to defraud Subaru in bringing the action against them, claiming that an alleged defective transmission in a 2002 Impreza WRX should be repaired or replaced under warranty. It’s not hard to speculate, at all: the owner most likely abused the car and busted his transmission, and was then trying to get Subaru to cover the cost of repairs. The $75,000 is meant to cover legal fees expended by Subaru in defending the case.
