Welcome to convertible city: four roadsters fight to the death

Motor Trend gets mad thorough with a 14-page review of a quartet of familiar roadsters. And because I’m kind, I’m going to swiftly break it down for you, Autoblog style. The $34,180 Nissan 350Z Roadster Enthusiast for some reason takes last place even though it performs as well as the Euro brands in the test for $10K less. Apparently the low-rent interior was too much to handle. BMW’s $47,000 Z4 grabs third— its spectacular and sonorous inline-six is held back by nervous handling and exaggerated styling. Audi’s similarly-priced DSG-equipped TT Roadster notches a second thanks to all-wheel-drive and stellar fit and finish. And, big freaking surprise, the Boxster S wins the thing because, dude, it’s a Porsche. It’s damn expensive at near $60K, but the superb engine and purpose-built sports-car platform are worth the steep tag.
