Automakers increased production 2.6 percent in North America this week, presumably
because sales have no where to go but up. WardsAuto.com reports that automakers have produced 352,720 vehicles this
week, up from 343,925 last week. Compared to last year, automakers building in North America are only building about .1
percent more vehicles than last year; however, it is interesting to note that the number of passenger cars being
produced by automakers this year to date has gone up, while the number of trucks produced in North America has
gone down. Also interesting is that vehicle production in Mexico has gone up by almost 4 percent, while U.S. production
has stayed stagnant and production in Canada has dropped three percent.
