Supersized highway may be coming to Texas

Texas Governor Rick Perry has proposed a quarter-mile wide superhighway that would stretch some 4,000 miles throughout the Longhorn State. The system would include lanes for regular traffic, semis and even trains. The Governor also thinks gas and oil pipelines should run alongside this system. You had us with the cars, semis and maybe even the trains (although do we need new rail lines?) but fuel lines? Next to high-speed traffic? Anyone see the potential for disaster there?  A number of diverse groups are already attacking the plan but Autoblog is always in favor of ways to reduce traffic.
