Reuters reports the Toyota Prius will begin production at Chinese plants next year in hopes of promoting the car as
the global leader in hybrid travel. The story also says China could benefit from cleaner technology as the rapidly
expanding country looks to alternative fuels to battle pollution and reliance on foreign energy. Of course the Chinese
might not even want a Prius says one expert. “The government is very serious about protecting the environment, but
getting the consumers to buy that is a different story. I don’t think people will willingly open their wallets to spend
extra money for the environment.” Many Americans don’t mind.
