Dieter Zetsche, the new CEO of DaimlerChrysler, has got a key position empty. With the
resignation of Eckhard Cordes, Dieter has to fill a position that we suspect no one is real keen to occupy. Rumors were
flying that Wolfgang Bernhard might leave VW, but
new reports and some
common sense rule that move out. Mercedes is certainly not the jewel of DCX that it once was. Quality problems and
declining sales have all made it difficult for the Mercedes-Benz unit to make money. Finding someone qualified and
willing to turn around M-B is not easy. Zetsche has looked to pull a leader from another firm, but it seems most are
not interested in leaving their current posts. We can’t say we blame them, but turning around M-B would certainly be a
feather in your cap, that is if you succeed.
