Detroit Free Press columnist Mark Phelan
marks the new 2005 Honda Odyssey with a loss. While my problems with it lie in the looks department (headlights are way
to big and make the front look almost frightened) his sat with the functionality of the interior space. Making the
point that most people buy minivans for versatility and to haul children, he gives his top minivan vote to the DCX
twins, Caravan and Town & Country. Odyssey wins out on engine tech and more comfortable second row seats, but that
did not win over the parents that he enlisted to scope out the van. They would make the trade off to have the seats
“disappear” in the floor. Honda still is at the top, but more thoughtful use of space keeps it from being a winner.
