Perhaps esteems is too flowery. Anyway, GM has done an internal analysis of
J.D. Power’s Initial Quality Study and
has determined that Honda powertrains are the industry benchmark. According to GM’s analysis, Honda powertrains had
15.3 problems per 100 in the first 90 days. While Honda was on top, GM was second and beat out Toyota for the
first time in eight years. GM apparently has 18.1 problems per 100 in the powertrain category and also concluded that
their automatic transmissions are industry-leading in initial quality. Another surprise is the GM also did the analysis
by brand, and Jaguar scored highest with only 9.3 problems per 100 vehicles.
