A few years back California passed a law that forced automakers to convert five percent of their cars sold to
zero-emission vehicles. So Ford built and leased (wisely) an electric version of the Ford Ranger. This weekend
protesters staged a sit-in at a Sacramento Ford dealership to protest Ford’s collection of the outstanding vehicles.
Obviously the current owners don’t want to turn over these pick-ups even with the ridiculous $490 a month lease
payment. Ford of course is trying to move to a hybrid friendly line-up and wants to erase all memory of these
tailpipe-less trucks. Oh and that bill has been suspended by a lawsuit filed by automakers so there definitely isn’t a
need for electric vehicles anymore.
