DCX and GM buddy up on hybrids

It seems that GM has woken up and realized that these hybrid things might be here to stay, and now its getting in the game in a big way. Yesterday the company announced its plan to offer three types of hybrids by 2007 and now we’ve gotten word that it’s finalized its previously reported deal with DaimlerChrysler to develop hybrid engines together. DaimlerChrysler will handle the development of hybrid engines for RWD luxury cars, while GM will take on trucks, SUVs and FWD cars and crossovers. Seems like DCX got the sweet end of that deal. The Chevy Tahoe and GMC Yukon will be the first vehicles to feature the new two-mode hybrid powerplant along with a soon-to-be hybrid Dodge Durango.
