Bargain alert: Brits eager to pay six figures for coveted license plate

The UK’s Essex County Council has kept the “F1” designation on its chairman’s license plate since 1904, but now they’re considering selling it. For the right price, of course. Crusty old Lord Hanningfield claims that people were queuing right up for a chance to bid on the plate with several financial assays made “above£150,000, with some being much higher.”  Ever tight-lipped, Lord Hanningfield wouldn’t divulge the names of the potential bidders, but we can speculate freely that Formula One honchos would be the most interested, followed by extremely well-off Formula One fanatics, followed a confused guy named Freddie Isherwood.
