Autoweek dudes say Saab 9-2X isn't worth premium over WRX

Editors Morrison and Raynal engage in a tête-à-tête that seems to focus more on Saab’s pricing than on the car
itself (which they do quite like). The sticking point: even if the 9-2X is as good as the WRX, why should anyone pay
$2,000-$5,000 more to get a Saab badge and a few cosmetic alterations? According to AW, one shouldn’t cough up
the extra unless one is a complete brand snob. What the gents don’t take into account is Saab’s oft-overlooked
discounting strategy— dealers usually trim thousands off of Saab MSRPs— but since the 9-2X is so new it’s difficult to
ascertain how much they are actually selling for. Only time will tell if Saab’s inflated numbers keep customers at
bay.
