Angle grinders are one of those tools that you’ll almost certainly end up using more often than you think. Maybe you are cutting an exhaust pipe, cleaning up welds, trimming bolts, or smoothing out some concrete, a dependable angle grinder can handle a wide range of demanding tasks. For anyone already invested in a cordless platform, sticking with the same battery system makes even more sense. That’s where this deal we found at Walmart comes in, especially if you’re already running Makita 18V tools across your automotive or DIY projects.
Right now, the Makita 18V Cordless Angle Grinder is on sale for just $118, down from $179. This 4-1/2 inch to 5-inch grinder delivers corded-level performance without being tethered to an outlet. It’s powered by a brushless motor designed for longer run time, increased power, and extended tool life. This is the tool-only version, so the battery is sold separately, but it’s perfect for those already using Makita’s 18V batteries. The kit includes a grinding wheel, cut-off wheel, side handle, lock-nut wrench, and a tool-less wheel guard to get you started.
Rare DealMakita’s automatic speed change technology adjusts speed and torque during operation for consistent output under load. Active feedback sensing technology shuts the motor off if the wheel rotation is suddenly forced to stop, adding an extra layer of safety. A 3-stage LED gauge shows battery charge level, while soft start helps reduce startup reaction and protect gears over time. Internal cooling and wire mesh intake covers are designed to keep debris out and maintain performance. With a 5/8-inch spindle thread, it works with standard angle grinder accessories for grinding, cutting, and sanding across metal, tile, concrete, and more.
One reviewer summed it up perfectly, saying, “We are Makita loyalists and have always had great performance with the products. This grinder was to replace one that had over 10 years of heavy use and abuse.”
That kind of long-term durability is exactly why so many users continue building around the Makita 18V platform, myself included.
