There are plenty of jobs where pulling out a full-size drill feels a little ridiculous. Tightening cabinet hinges, putting together furniture, removing screws from a car’s interior trim, or replacing a switch plate doesn’t take much power. It’s just a lot of turning. A small cordless screwdriver can make those jobs go faster without being much bigger than the manual screwdriver you’d normally grab. They’re especially nice for repetitive work, like assembling shelves or taking apart dashboard panels where you might have a dozen screws to remove.

With this new product release we saw at JCPenney, the DeWalt 14-Piece Cordless Screwdriver Set is available for just $86. There’s no discount here, but it’s a solid everyday price for a rechargeable screwdriver from one of the biggest names in tools. The kit comes with the 4V screwdriver, 12 two-inch bits, and a USB charging cable. You get Phillips, slotted, Torx, and square bits, so there’s a decent assortment for furniture assembly, household fixes, electrical cover plates, and smaller automotive jobs.

One unusual feature is DeWalt’s Flexdrive collar, which lets you control the screwdriver by sliding the collar rather than relying on a traditional trigger. It runs at up to 360 rpm and has six torque settings, with a soft start to help keep smaller screws from stripping. Powered torque tops out at 44 inch-pounds, but you can also finish tightening screws manually with up to 124 inch-pounds of torque.

DeWalt says the built-in 2.0Ah battery can drive up to 680 machine screws per charge, and recharging takes about an hour. There’s even a four-LED work light for seeing what you’re doing inside cabinets, under dashboards, or in other cramped spots. For just $86, it’s worth considering if you do a lot of smaller fastening jobs and want something easier to handle than a full-size drill.

Deals We’re Loving

Everyday low prices on name brand tools don’t tend to stick around, so head over to JCPenney’s site today and pick up the DeWalt 14-Piece Cordless Screwdriver Set for only $86 while you still.
