Overview
The 2026 Polestar 4 is a compact electric luxury SUV that blends coupe-like style with SUV-level space. It comes in Single Motor and Dual Motor configurations, sending power to the rear or all four wheels, respectively. The Single Motor produces 268 hp, while the Dual Motor produces 536 hp. A 100-kWh battery supports up to 310 miles of range.
One of the most unusual design choices is the lack of a rear window, replaced by a roof-mounted HD camera that feeds a digital rearview mirror. DC fast charging reaches 200 kW and takes the battery from 10-80 percent in about 30 minutes. It competes with the Tesla Model Y, BMW iX, and Volvo EX60.
What’s New for 2026?
The 2026 4 is the second model year of the model in the US with revised trim packaging. Buyers now choose between Long Range Single Motor and Long Range Dual Motor versions, and the Dual Motor can be paired with the Performance Pack. Google built-in infotainment and Apple CarPlay come standard. An electrochromic glass roof joins the options list.
This also marks the last model year for the Polestar 4, as the entire brand is leaving the U.S. market due to the new connected-car rule that bans all foreign-made vehicles containing certain connected Chinese hardware and software.

Exterior
The design of the Polestar 4 compact SUV coupe focuses on aerodynamics and interior space utilization. The fastback roofline removes the rear window entirely, and a roof-mounted camera replaces traditional glass, which also improves rear headroom. LED headlights with Thor’s Hammer graphics and a full-width rear light bar define the styling.
The Single Motor rides on 20-inch Aero wheels, while 21-inch and 22-inch wheels are offered as upgrades; 22s are standard on the Dual Motor Performance. The electrochromic panoramic glass roof switches from transparent to opaque at the press of a button. Flush door handles and smooth body surfaces help improve aerodynamic efficiency.

Electric reclining rear seats and a rear control screen are also offered. Ambient lighting inspired by the solar system includes nine color themes. There is 18.6 cu-ft of cargo space behind the second row and 54.2 cu-ft with it folded down.

Verdict
The Polestar 4 stands out as one of the most visually unconventional EVs currently on sale. Removing the rear window improves rear headroom and makes the cabin feel more open, although the camera-based mirror takes time to get used to. The Single Motor version delivers 310 miles of range and smooth rear-wheel-drive dynamics.
The base Single Motor at $56,400 remains the best choice for most buyers because it delivers the longest range and a strong list of standard equipment. The Dual Motor targets performance-focused drivers with its 3.7-second 0-60 time and added AWD traction.
With its distinctive design, competitive pricing, and spacious interior, this model creates a unique position within the electric SUV segment. Buyers who accept the camera-based rear visibility system gain a vehicle that prioritizes design, technology, and interior comfort in a way few competitors attempt.
