Overview

The 2027 Chevrolet Blazer EV midsize electric SUV continues with the same trims and powertrains, but with a few changes to paint colors, wheels, and option packages. It still comes with three powertrain options: a FWD single-motor 220-hp or AWD dual-motor 300-hp arrangement with an 85-kWh battery in the LT and RS, and a high-performance dual-motor AWD SS with 615 hp and a 102-kWh battery pack.

Range maxes out at 312 miles for the FWD LT. Super Cruise hands-free highway driving is available as an option, and all trims get a large 17.7-inch touchscreen with Google Built-In, but no Apple CarPlay or Android Auto. Typical class rivals include the Honda Prologue, Jeep Wagoneer S, and Subaru Trailseeker.

What’s New for 2027

The 2027 Blazer EV loses its Summit White roof option, along with its Galaxy Gray and White Sands paint colors. The shark-fin antenna changes from body color to gloss black (left below), and the SS gets redesigned 22-inch wheels (center below).

The roof rails contained in the Convenience and Comfort packages are now gloss black, no longer satin aluminum, and the Black Illumination and All-Weather Mat packages have been retired altogether. If you order the Super Cruise package, an 8-speaker Bose audio system is now included. The seat inserts in the SS lose their center alignment stripe and get a unidirectional pattern (right below).

The Blazer EV gets a standard NACS port this year, so the previous NACS DC adapter is discontinued; CCS1, J1772, and PowerShift AC adapters remain available, and a Level 2 fast-charging adapter is now offered, as well as Premium Charging and Charging Essentials packages.

Exterior

The Blazer EV has a four-square stance, with broad shoulders, a big grille, thin DRL strips with a light bar, and big wheels, topping out at 22 inches, though lower trims ride on 19s and 21s. The smooth flanks sport flush door handles, a rising waistline, and a hunched attitude that makes it seem ready to pounce. The SS gets unique fascias, dark accents, an aggressive body kit, and other tweaks. At around 193 inches long, it’s one of the more compact midsize SUVs, and about the same size as the Lexus RX, which is regarded as an SUV that straddles the compact and midsize classes.

Interior

The interior is quite roomy, with almost 39 inches of legroom in the second row, though this is par for the course for most compact SUVs nowadays, and the trunk’s 25.5 cu-ft of volume does not impress, further casting doubt on the Blazer EV’s midsize positioning.

The LT comes with a 6-speaker audio system, a tilting/telescoping steering column, single-zone climate control, blind-zone steering assist, rear pedestrian alert, lane-keep assist, an 11.0-inch digital gauge cluster, and a Google-based 17.7-inch touchscreen with voice commands and navigation capability, but no Apple CarPlay or Android Auto. Higher trims gain features such as power front seats with ventilation, 8-speaker Bose audio, and a wireless charging pad. Super Cruise is optional on the base trims and standard on the SS.

Price Range and Best Value Trim

The 2027 Chevrolet Blazer EV’s price structure remains unchanged for the new model year:

Trim LevelPrice
Base (cheapest): LT FWD$44,700
Top (most expensive): SS AWD$60,700
Best value: RS AWD$53,500

The RS AWD makes the most sense at $53,500. It has the 300-hp AWD powertrain and adds to the LT features like dual-zone climate control, heated and ventilated front seats, and more.

Pros and Cons

Pros:

  • Up to 312 miles of range on FWD models
  • Intuitive 17.7-inch touchscreen with Google Built-In
  • SS delivers 615 hp for genuine performance
  • Available Super Cruise hands-free highway driving

Cons:

  • No wireless Apple CarPlay or Android Auto
  • 220-hp FWD underpowered for a vehicle this size
  • 150-190 kW DC fast charging trails some competitors
  • 3-year warranty is shorter than some

Verdict

The Blazer EV is an accomplished electric SUV, but it’s not quite the midsizer you imagine, though it also undercuts all the other midsize SUVs on price, so it’s certainly good value at a starting price of less than $45K. We do suggest the R53K RS AWD though, because the base powertrain is a little limp, and the RS treatment adds some nice features. It brings stronger performance and a still-decent 283-mile range.
