The 2026 Nissan Rogue in a Nutshell

The Nissan Rogue has been around for nearly 20 years now. One might dismiss it as just another compact crossover, but its history is rather amusing. Back in 2007, Nissan had two compact crossovers that served different markets. The US and some parts of the world got the Rogue, while the rest got the X-Trail.

That was the case until 2013, when the two models merged as one, but still carried separate names. Still, at least we get some semblance of the JDM version, right? The Nissan Rogue is now in its fourth generation. It was launched in 2020 (what a time to launch a car) for the 2021 model year and was given an update in 2024.

Four trim levels are available for the 2026 Nissan Rogue. Only one engine choice is offered, but there are two drivetrains to choose from. Prices range from $29,090 to $38,990.

2026 Nissan Rogue Lease Deals for December

Nissan kicks off December lease deals with the Rogue SV 2WD and Rogue Platinum AWD. The SV 2WD can be leased for just $249 per month for 36 months with $4,469 due at signing. And yes, this is for the 2026 model.

As for the Platinum AWD, that goes for a little more, but it’s still a pretty good deal. The range-topper is at $349 for 36 months. Nissan’s SignatureFlex program also allows for more miles per year if needed, as well as a bigger downpayment for lower monthly rates. It’s $0.25 for every mile beyond 10,000 miles per year.

2026 Nissan Rogue Highlights

Rogue trim levels start with the S and SV, both of which are front-wheel drive but have optional all-wheel drive. Higher up the ladder are the off-road-oriented Rock Creek and Platinum. Those trims are all-wheel drive only.

Regardless of trim, all use the same engine. In case you missed the news from 2022, the Rogue no longer uses a 2.5-liter mill. It was since replaced by a 1.5-liter three-cylinder with a variable compression turbo system. It may have dropped a cylinder, but power is actually up from 181 hp to 201 hp.

There is a version of the Rogue that we wish were sold in America. For Asian and European markets, there’s the X-Trail e-Power, a range-extended hybrid. It uses the same 1.5-liter turbo, but it only serves as a generator for the batteries to power the electric motor. It only comes with all-wheel drive, and output is rated at 211 hp.

E-Power is a pretty clever system, and honestly, we’re still wondering why Nissan USA didn’t sell it here. Instead, we got a Nissan-badged Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV, itself based on the Rogue.

Final Thoughts

We really wish the Rogue gets the e-Power system in the US, but the standard model is pretty good as it is. It’s loaded even in base form, presents good value, and the turbo-three is actually punchy and offers great efficiency. The cabin is a nice place to be in, too, giving off a premium ambiance, and the refined ride makes it a wonderful daily driver. Toyota and Honda might own the compact crossover market in terms of sales, but Nissan’s contender is worth checking out.
