The 2026 BMW X6 in a Nutshell

Who would’ve thought that the whole coupe-crossover idea would take off? Granted, it’s not a new idea, but BMW somehow made it work with the X6 when it was first introduced in 2008. Three generations later, it’s still a polarizing genre, but it’s one that continues to make money for the company.

The current X6 was launched in 2019 for the 2020 model year, so it’s been around for quite some time already. It received a facelift in 2024, along with updates to the powertrain and the addition of more advanced driver assists. For 2026, it carries over largely unchanged.

2026 BMW X6 Lease Deals for December

This month, it’s the base xDrive40i and M60i that are available with special lease offers. Starting with the 40i, that one goes for $1,039 for 39 months with $7,069 due at signing. The M60i also has the same leasing period, and that one is at $1,299 per month with a downpayment of $8,129. If those rates sound familiar, they’re pretty much the same as last month’s deal.

For those who leased any BMW product in the last 12 months, it’s good to know that the company is offering an additional credit worth $2,000. It’s applicable to both the xDrive40i and the M60i to further sweeten the deal. As for terms and conditions, it’s $0.30 for every succeeding mile (depending on agreed-upon mileage), and the offer is valid until January 2, 2026.

2026 BMW X6 Highlights

There are three trims available for the X6. There’s the aforementioned xDrive40i, as well as the M60i, plus the X6 Competition. All come standard with the curved screen display that’s now present in every BMW model these days, along with iDrive 8.5, wireless phone connectivity, and a basic advanced driver assist system package. As with all BMWs, various option packages are applicable to most trims.

Moving to engines, it starts with a turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six that makes 375 hp and 398 lb-ft of torque in the xDrive40i. For the M60i, it uses a 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8 with 523 hp and 553 lb-ft, while the X6M Competition bumps that up to 617 hp with the same amount of torque.

Final Thoughts

The X6 isn’t for the shy types, for sure. Even after three generations, this coupe crossover still generates buzz to the point that it’s even spawned a couple of competitors. Yes, the X5 is a far more practical and even more within reach, but the X6 is for those who want to make a statement. It’s still a bold choice for anyone looking for a crossover, and those who choose it will be rewarded by great comfort, performance, and dynamics. Heck, it’s apparently America’s most satisfying car to own.
