Do hippies dream of electric vans?

If you haven’t seen or driven the 2025 Volkswagen ID.Buzz, you’re missing out. Is it kitschy? Yes. Is it a joke? No. Not only does it look like nothing else on the road, but it’s truly spacious, seriously quick, and there’s no other vehicle on earth that generates this many smiles from inside and outside the car. The ID.Buzz is a remarkable EV, and there’s no other minivan like it. Okay, so VW calls it a bus. We can get behind that.

For 2025, the ID.Buzz comes in five trims: Pro S, Pro S Plus, Pro S Plus with 4MOTION, 1st Edition, and 1st Edition with 4MOTION. 4MOTION models get dual electric motors with all-wheel drive, and the rest of the lineup gets a single motor with rear-wheel drive. Single motor versions provide 282 horsepower and 413 lb-ft of torque, while dual motor models provide 335 horsepower and 413 lb-ft of torque. Range on a full charge is 231 miles for all-wheel drive and 234 miles for rear-wheel drive. The ID.Buzz also supports 200 kW DC fast charging and has room for up to seven people, as well as whatever cargo you need to take along. Combine that with great in-car technology, solid standard features, and an impressive lease deal for September, and you have a package that appeals to many.
