John Tallodi

John Tallodi is a senior editor at Autoblog and a motoring journalist with decades of experience across a broad range of automotive topics. He has a particular soft spot for modern classics, especially from the ‘80s and ‘90s. An unhealthy obsession with factual accuracy and a penchant to dispense unsolicited car trivia may not be the best mix at dinner parties, but it does add value to his automotive writing.

Experience

John has over 17 years of experience in the field and has worked for several motoring publications over the years, including Carwow, CarBuzz, Magneto, Total 911, MSN, and Auto Classics. He is also the editor of the BMW Car Club Magazine in South Africa and regularly covers technical topics for automotive marketing firms. In his spare time, John enjoys going for scenic drives and then fastidiously washing and polishing his cars, carefully avoiding the term ‘detailing’ because it sounds silly.

Education

With a BCom Honors from the University of the Witwatersrand in Marketing and Human Resources, John started off in the corporate world but soon realized that his passion for all things automotive could only be satisfied by driving and writing about cars 24/7. Starting off writing for a local newspaper, he has continually been expanding his knowledge and journalistic experience under some talented editors and seasoned motoring writers. He has also devoured every car magazine published over the past 25 years, and still owns most of them.
