With Super Bowl Sunday less than a week away, this week is going to be dominated by anything and everything football related. That includes advertising and the auto industry, as some of the biggest players prepare to launch multi-million-dollar spots hawking their latest and greatest products.

A veteran of Super Bowl ads, Audi's history has been rather checkered, ranging from controversial to funny to Jason Statham. We aren't entirely sure where to place this year's ad. The German brand has released a pair of teaser videos on the so-called Doberhuahua, a crossbreed of a Doberman Pinscher and a Chihuahua. Now, we have the full spot.

We get the message Audi is going for - compromise is bad - but delivering it via a slobbery, mutant dog strikes us as trying a bit too hard to be funny. Take a look below and let us know what you think of the Audi's Doberhuahua spot. And of course, you'll be able to see the new ad come Sunday, when it airs during the Super Bowl.

I think the mutant dog is the Mercedes cla. Tries to be something that's not, it's not a cls, it's not fast, it compromises the passengers in back to have a cool design, big nose on front, small behind like doberhuahua. Lol Commercial is ok. There so much to talk about a3 like first in class with standard led drl and bi xenon headlights, panorama sunroof, Bluetooth, leather seats, satellite radio. All that without clicking at any option. How about first car in the US with available 4g LTE internet access including Facebook, Instagram, picture maps.

As an interested A3 buyer all of Audi's commercials make me feel like a jackass for being interested in them.

The irony of all this is that there is a compromise. Transverse platform "electronic" quattro (B6 owner here).

You mean Haldex? Lamborghini Aventador uses it, it's not 'that' bad. I have it in my '07 3.6 Passat 4Motion and although the feeling is not as solid as my torsen based '99 A6 Quattro Avant, it's a pretty responsive system. It's weird getting used to a system that suddenly kicks in. I'm more annoyed with the drive by wire throttle and steering than the Haldex system.

Audis, being a front heavy, FWD-based cars, are compromises. They need a RWD front-mid-engine platform like the big boys (i.e. BMW, Mercedes, and even Lexus.) Funny how that dog is front heavy, just like all the Audis.

funny how a lot of reviews stated that the A6 handles better than the 5 series.

The A3 is a huge compromise. It should have been a hatchback/wagon but Audi thought the sedan would sell better, so they went with the less functional body style in order to sell more units.

There is a hatchback... just not for the US market anymore. Sales of the A3 hatch were "poor" according to Audi. American's just don't like "wagons". However, the A3 hatch will return to the US as the 2016 A3 Sportback e-Tron plugin hybrid.

Hatchback/wagon? ICE agents are standing outside your door right now with tickets back to the UK...

I'd rather have the hatch/wagon too, but I do want to go back to the UK. Take me?

"Compromise scares us too" Which is why we at Audi made absolutely no attempt to differentiate the styling of the A3 from the A4 or the A6 and even the A8. Four models, Four Sizes, Four Rings, One look. Audi.

I guess we need primitive commercials for primitive people? Is that what you are trying to say?

No, I'm saying I don't wanna watch some ugly ass CG dog for entire commercial to tell me A3 is not compromised
