With its sights set on the BMW 3 Series, Jaguar could be planning a full range of models for its upcoming entry-level car – possibly called the XS. We've already seen spy shots of the four-door version of this all-aluminum baby Jag, but according to Auto Express, the automaker will also offer the car in coupe and wagon variants.

The XS sedan should hit the market in 2015, and the coupe and wagon models are expected soon after that. Speaking with Jag's global brand director Adrian Hallmark, AE says that the XS will be focused on styling with a design similar to the recently introduced C-X17 crossover concept. Hallmark also said that the addition of the XS lineup could help Jaguar double its sales, which were at 357,773 global units in 2012. Head on over to Auto Express for some speculative renderings of the XS coupe and wagon.

BMW offers manual transmissions and diesels (albeit not together). Would Jag offer either?

Everyone chasing the 3-series. Says something about how much respect BMW has earned over the years.

Hip hip hurray, another x-type. Hear kitty kitty. Put a diesel in it and listen to it purr. Will the British ever build a proper automobile? Will the British ever own an Automobile company? Why isn't someone building a NEW, old Mini? Not retro but a brand new original mini. I can buy a new AC Bristol Cobra from my choice of builders so why not a Mini? And don't give me that safety crap, a speeding semi truck will kill you even if your in a S-Class, yes, if you get broadsided by a speeding semi, it pretty much doesn't matter how big your car is, you are probably going to loose your life, and since getting broadsided by a speeding semi is numerically/statistically unlikely you might as well have as much fun as you can while driving what you want, not what some government bean counter thinks you should be driving and cost way more than a car should because of all the mandatory safety add-ons that will not save you in the event you get broadsided by a speeding semi-truck. Not to mention that the planet is overpopulated and could use a few more road kill fatalities, lets bring back the the cheap to build and drive and invest in the mortuary business, maybe even have a two-fer sale at the dealership, buy a car and we through in a casket or make the first two payments on the cemetery plot of your choice. Buy the way, Jaguar really should bring this on, but stop calling it a 3 series fighter unless and until you start driving them into each other head-on to see who wins. Cars don't fight, stupid humans fight and kill each other to make an attempt at population control, So how would you rather go? in an automobile accident while you where driving what you wanted to drive or getting shot, stabbed or blown-up in a stupid war? Oh yes I hear it now but there is not one documented case of anyone living that was born in the 14 century so I guess we all do die in the end and I want to have as much fun as possible until my time to leave this body comes, So build the fabulous small inexpensive cars and lets have some driving fun. Hang all the Lawyers, that will have the side effect of getting rid of most of the politicians and insurance companies and help with the overpopulation problem and cheaper than sending the children off to war. And after the lawyers, the religious leaders, after which I can see no reason for anyone to want to war/kill anyone for anything. So let me sum this up, No Lawyers/Politicians/Insurance/Religions=Peace on earth where we can all build and drive whatever we want and just have as much fun as possible until we all die. What a great rant, I feel much better now, you?

Jaguar makes some very sexy cars, I'd consider one if it drives like my f30 328i. The new corporate look for Jag is incredible.

JAG needs to concentrate on making the XF top of the line at the $50K mark. Stop worrying about going to a smaller car cheaper car ... that makes ZERO sense. If anything make a more affordable F-type which would win over more buyers. Own the $50 to $60K part and the rest will work out just fine. Keep the XJ on modern footing and now with the F-Type, what else is there to worry about?
