The Car Show with Adam Carolla – Click above to watch videos after the jump

SPEED has released the first volley of promos for its upcoming Top Gear U.S.A. rival, The Car Show with Adam Carolla. While one of the videos gives us a quick glimpse into what the show will bring to the table when it debuts next month, the rest introduce us to the program's four hosts. Each of the guys take time to tell us about their very first vehicles and driving experiences, from a Honda 400 Four in the case of Adam Carolla to multiple pilfered rides in the case of Dan Neil.

It's clear that each of the guys have a penchant for all things automotive, and there are some pretty entertaining personalities in the bunch. The Car Show hits the air on July 13, so we'll have to wait awhile before we can say with any finality whether Carolla, Neil, Matt Farah and John Salley make for more lively hosts than the Top Gear U.S.A. three musketeers. Hit the jump to check out the videos for yourself.

I don't really know the other guys, but Carolla is a riot. I always enjoy his sarcastic humor, regardless of the specific show or media type (radio, TV, movies, etc.). This show was built from the ground up, around and for him, to highlight his talent and unique take on cars. That is a good thing. Assuming he has solid input on the show's direction, I think it could be extremely entertaining.

Does John Salley have some kind of special contract to be on any show where guys sit around and talk guy-stuff?

The promo spots on Speed Channel have been great. The Cereal as spark plugs and him eating them just is yeah sends the point home that the show will be about cars and have some comedy tossed in for good measure. While I know many will say "This will be better than Top Gear US" I could care less. More automotive shows with great production and quality the happier I am since it means one less Reality Tv show being green lit and forced down our throats!

Sitting behind a desk? Walking around with a handheld mic? How formulaic of an American show. Now thanks. With that said, with how Americans gravitate to boring and formulaic cars, this sadly, might work.

Would be a good show if it didn't have adam carolla, can't stand that guy for more than a minute.

I have a feeling this has the potential to be more of an Americanized Top Gear UK, than Top Gear USA. It kinda crazy, if you look closely, Carolla kinda looks like Jeremy Clarkson if he were 20 years younger with tighter, youthful skin, darker hair, and Italian. They got almost the same elongated head shape and very similar humor. I think this show could be big here.

totally agree with your observations. carolla is funnier than hell and says stuff that would have the thin-skinned crowd running for the hills. he could be even better than clarkson in that role of the car loving **** stirrer who calls it like he sees it. let's give the show a chance. it's find its right footing. we gotta remember that even top gear had to evolve to become the show that we all love. and i'm always in favor of another show aimed at us gearheads.

Agreed. The key advantage is that they are not hamstrung into a specific format (or expectations) as a result of the TG name.
