2010 Lexus RX revealed early in Japanese brochure

Thanks to an astute Autoblog tipster, we have our very first look at the upcoming redesigned 2010 Lexus RX ahead of its official unveiling at the LA Auto Show next month. As you can see in the gallery below, which show shots from what appears to be a Japanese brochure, the new RX will retain the same basic shape and styling cues as the current model, but has been gone over with some fine grit sandpaper to smooth out the rough edges. In traditional Lexus fashion, while the new RX may look similar to the old one, we're absolutely certain every body panel is all new. The redesigned interior also features a seriously swoopy dash.
The new RX is also rumored to be larger than the current model with a longer wheelbase that may accommodate a third row of seating for the first time. We expect a revised version of the current model's 3.5L V6 to be offered, probably with more power and better fuel economy, as well as a new version of the RX400h hybrid. Take a look at the sneak preview in the gallery below and let us know what you think in the comments. Thanks for the tip, Stan!

Agree... Nice interior but the exterior is bland.

Is this now based on the Toyota Venza? Look at the rear D pillar, it looks identical to the Venza's and also look at the position of the console shift, same as the Venza. Hasn't the RX been based on the Highlander since its introduction.
Let me be the first to say, boring and I don't like it. But you know it will sell

The Highlander, Venza, and RX are all based of the Camry platform.

Also, the Highlander came out 3 years [maybe 4?] after the Lexus RX.

So they stuck on an IS Grille, and a hybrid of GS and LS Headlights?
Doesn't look too bad- to say the most

Big disappointment in the looks department; Interior and Exterior. Probably be a huge success.

Nice Venza. I think my mom would be happy to stick to her current RX.

"A new version of the RX400h?" You mean the RX450h that's staring me right in the face? Obvious much? Did you donkeys even bother to look at these pictures?

I was thinking the same thing when I saw the RX450h in the brochure...Geez that's how Disney ended up with porn hidden in their kids movies!

The RX450H will be a new version of the RX400H. There's nothing wrong with what they said. They never called the new gen the RX400H.
B-NOIT 4:57PM (10/29/2008)
HUGE disappointment. I'm actually kinda sad that they got rid of the current gen's most distinctive design feature (taillights that sit flush with the rear window). Front-end treatment vaguely reminiscent of the current Corolla, too - which is definitely not a good thing.
And what's with the interior? Man. SO disappointed.
