click for a high res gallery of a Carrera GT in the wild
You never what you're going to spot when you go for a little joy ride across America. Just moments ago as we crossed from Missouri into Arkansas on Interstate 55, a low slung black car with a big wing rolled by. After a quick double take I grabbed my camera and snapped off a few pics of the first Porsche Carrera GT I've ever seen on the street. If I was going to see one of these I certainly wouldn't have expected it in eastern Arkansas.

Awesome.
I saw a yellow GT in Florida last winter and couldn't contain my excitement.
No one around me was that impressed, and I had to explain how rare it is to see these "in the wild".

I saw about a dozen of these at the supercar show in Palm Beach in February.
The best part about living is South Florida is there are supercars EVERYWHERE!

good note on south florida. as a miami man myself, choose the day you want, cruise to the beach and open your eyes. i even saw a gumpert apollo 6-8 months ago. a carrera gt is no big deal. i feel bad that ive gotten jaded by living in this town.
foo @ Oct 11th 2008 11:48AM
s florida has nothing on LA/OC super cars like the lambo's are so common place here they're not a big deal to see anymore. It's actually disturbing how many people out here have this kind of money. Perfect example is that saturday morning coffee and cars

I love living near Tampa, i always see exotics in my neighborhood and the back roads going to places like the mall. I saw a Carrera GT as I was going to McDonald's one morning. I especially love going to International Plaza where the bars and restaurants are because half the parking lot is filled with exotic and uber-luxury cars.

Foo, no disrespect but..it's disturbing that people have enough money to buy super cars...really? Ah well. I was gonna also make another Florida comment as I live here in SFLA but I see there are many here..
DDao @ Oct 11th 2008 1:57PM
George no disrespect taken, it's kind of the mentality out here the home base of new century mortgage and home of the 30k millionaires (you know the type fake brightling (sic) watches to boot with their knock off Chanel glasses) they're the ones that work hard in the mortgage industry when it was booming and didnt save a nickle.
I'm sure there are quite a few for sale now

I used to live in orange county in california (notice how i didnt say "OC") and I now live in Miami I can tell you right now that Miami has wayyyy more supercars around, or at least the people here drive them, I dont even get excited when I see a Gallardo or an F430 anymore.. it sucks
MKULTRABLIZZARD @ Oct 11th 2008 6:09PM
@BrokenMonkey
so true about that mall. i go there after i fly in and there are usually really nice cars all around. there's some nice rides in Sarasota too.
I've seen two Carerra GT's, within weeks of each other in Red Bank and Colts Neck and haven't seen any since.
asurroca @ Oct 13th 2008 5:55PM
I agree with the SFL sentiments. I've lived in Los Angeles and Miami, and holy crap, are exotics common in South Florida. Forget about going to the hip places on the beach; stop by any large mall on any given day and you're bound to find Ferraris and Lamborghinis.
Also, I've got y'all beat in the "my area has more rich cars" war, cuz I live next to a Bentley/Lamborghini/Rolls-Royce dealer, so I see exotics everytime I leave my house.

I *love* how the passenger is asleep on a cushion. Must be comfy!

He could be an evil villain transporting some secret agent's drugged up love interest away to his volcano lair to use as ransom or bait. It's all a ruse!
ZedX3 @ Oct 11th 2008 9:56AM
I think the fact that it's a GT with *Utah* plates in eastern Arkansas is the real shocker here...
3seriesisking @ Oct 11th 2008 11:15AM
Tell me about it.....crazy stuff, this must surely point to the end being near....I mean Carrera GT's in Arkansas??? GM and Chrysler merger????
Preus @ Oct 11th 2008 9:57AM
It's just a great, cool car. It's a true supercar, 'cause it has that wow-effect, and all the pro-reviewers from numerous magazines can tell about it's needs, all that just doesn't matter when you look at it. Love it.
Anton C. @ Oct 11th 2008 9:58AM
What cracks me up is the passenger with the pillow. Everyone you pass by on the interstate has that same look, even if you're riding in a Carrera GT.
Josh @ Oct 11th 2008 2:55PM
I saw that and started laughing. I have been in that position so many times during 14+ hour road trips, just a twist to see someone doing it in a super car instead. Kind of reminds you that no matter how much money you have you can still get bored sitting in a car during a road trip.
oZone @ Oct 11th 2008 10:04AM
I've seen a silver one here in Santo Domingo, DR. I was also extremely excited when I saw it. Mostly because it was racing a Continental GT with a Wald bodykit and a Maserati Gran Turismo.
Preus @ Oct 11th 2008 10:32AM
Insane. That's like a dreamrace. Must have been wild.
brent @ Oct 11th 2008 10:16AM
a friend of mine snapped a few pics of a carrera gt that belonged to the r&b singer Usher at a Target store in Atlanta. Check it out at www.tumblr.brendanlim.com a few posts down...
