We've already been introduced to the new Audi A4 at the 2007 Frankfurt Auto Show, and the updated car is a lot easier on the eyes than the current model. Incorporating similar styling cues to what you'll find on the A5 Coupe, the new A4 also features shorter overhangs thanks to its new platform that allows more wiggle room for engine placement. Though Audi gave us a smattering of images before the car debuted and we took a good number of our own in Frankfurt, the German automaker released an entirely new batch yesterday that we just had to share. The shots include a red 1.8T and white 3.2L model. We'll take ours with the 3.2L V6 please, as that engine remains one of our fave sixes currently on the market. Click below to see our updated gallery of the new Audi A4; the first 21 pics are all new.

Audi and Mazda are the two car makers who have clear understanding of a cohesive design language!

I agree, all Audi models have a very recognizable (and attractive) style. You know an Audi when you see one.
But I would warn Audi of becoming too much like BMW, which I think has taken a serious downturn in recent years as far as design goes. This new A4 looks a lot like the new 3-series, especially from the back and side profiles.

Definitely, I went to a ride and drive today at a local Audi store. It was a fantastic day as I got to drive the S8, S6, and the RS4. The S8 is pure luxury, the RS4 is pure sports sedan, and the S6 splits the difference. I can't wait to try the S5, and the new A4/S4. They also had an R8 on hand for sitting in, but no drives.
BTW - The RS4 is the best car I have ever driven.

Yeah,
But the problem - IMHO - with Audi is that, until this emerging generation, all the sedans looked the same. You couldn't tell an A4 from an A6 in profile.
The emergent generation is much better in that regard...but they are all "be-Bangled," though Audi have hit all their exteriors more uniformly with that ugly stick!

I think it is time for my boring Lexus IS 250AWD to go when this hit the streets. I will take mine 3.2 With S-Tronic and s-line please
Ligor @ Oct 18th 2007 8:39AM
seems like you chose the 250AWD out of being scared.
why not opt for the 3.5L, which I'm betting yoyu right now, it'll still be faster than the S4.
maybe you're still waiting for the ADW, in which case you'd have a hard time not opting for the G35x or CTS AWD both of which will be fasrted and more fun that this FWD Front heavy A4,
maybe you are only looking at a confy ride adn just enough sport to think you're an enthusiast
good luck with the $40+k 3.2L A4 AWD

Should get one before Xmas, those fairy lights would look good out the front...
Maestro1 @ Oct 17th 2007 9:08PM
The car looks awesome, but the front headlights (while cool) kind of make it look like the car is balling its eyes out to me. Just my .02 :P.
MikeW @ Oct 17th 2007 9:22PM
It could still use less overhang (and better weight distribution, and bigger cylinder bore spacing)

Move the axle under the engine (just barely) change the shape of the oil sump, and move the rack to the front of the engine (in the new space created)

The Audi V6 effectively splits the difference between Toyota's 2.5 & 3.5 V6, and BMW's 328/335

What's boring here is reading the MikeW Audi comments on Autoblog which incidentally, is the same damn point over and over again for as long as I've been reading this blog. OK WE GET IT - you believe that Audi engineers are so stupid that they keep making the same "mistake" over and over again by not creating cars with perfect 50/50 weight distribution. WHO CARES. They are probably pretty smart engineers (NOT as smart as you of coarse) who are kind of known for engineering detail and design. Maybe your time would be better spend e-mailing Audi engineers to let them know the correct way to design thier oil sumps and racks and cylinder bore spacing - I mean, maybe they just don't know any better? Please, do this so we can get this resolved so I can read an Audi write up and check out some pictures and read some interesting comments without reading your nonsense.

I love VW & Audi design style.
But I have to say that I was a bit dissapointed when I saw A4 after seeing A5. It just looks too much like stretched A5. I thought they could have added or changed to make it look more like a sedan. I dunno.. just my 2C.
klitorisaurus @ Oct 17th 2007 9:51PM
Looks haawt! But why does the back end remind me o much of the new 3 series coupe? hmmm
nagmashot @ Oct 18th 2007 9:01AM
because BMW copyed the rear from the old S4 RS4 to their E92 Coupe ..the new A4 rear looks exactly like a slightly updated B7 S4/RS4 rear..
new A4 rear

looks like the old A4/S4/RS4 rear with A5 rear lights added

nothing copyed from BMW...

Looks sharp overall, but the line of LED's in the headlights are just cheap bling to me. That belongs on a Cobalt, not a car that I associate with understated class.
vkchu @ Oct 17th 2007 10:33PM
that led carbage underneath the lamps is fn nasty!!!
Owain Ozymandias Buck @ Oct 18th 2007 8:48AM
I agree. Couldn't they have incorporated them in an unobtrusive way that doesn't look like a cheap whore's false eyelashes?
Calguy @ Oct 17th 2007 10:23PM
I think this is the most gutless redesign in aeons. I like that Audi doesn't dabble in cheesy swoosh lines like that which is on every MB right now, but this is SO conservative and safe. The interior looks like EVERY other AUDI and it really moves the game on very little. No errors.. just no passion.
Jason @ Oct 17th 2007 10:27PM
I agree completely. The A4 is a pleasant car but offers no excitement to me. There isn't a defining characteristic about it and it looks too similar to the previous A4. With all of the exciting cars in this class I think Audi needs to do better. The next TL should kill this car.
testa di cazzo @ Oct 18th 2007 12:09AM
"The next TL should kill this car."
LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL.
hahahhahahahahahahahahahahahahahhahah. ooh boy. phew. no no, wait - hahahahhahahahahhahahahaahahhaha. man that was funny
Jason @ Oct 18th 2007 12:25AM
Nice. You must be blind as a bat. The next TL will have over 300 hp, advanced AWD, better styling than the A4, cost less money, better reliability, better technology, and stronger resale value...how can the A4 hang with that?
