Pebble Beach Week 2007: Blackhawk Collection sale
Rather than being like everyone else up in Monterey this week, with their auctions of priceless classic and collector cars, the folks with the Blackhawk Collection choose to do things a bit differently. They have a sale. They drag out some of the sweetest offerings from their vast collection and print the price right there on the windshield. Not that it's a no-haggle deal or anything, but at least buyers don't have to worry about somebody outbidding them at the last second and ruining their chance of getting the keys to that new dream ride. Situated above Pebble, near the Polo Grounds and Gooding Auction tent, the Blackhawk display is quite eye-catching.

While several of the best cars are inside the tent, many are sprawled out across the lawn for all the passers-by to see and drool over. And it's quite an eclectic mix of cars. We had a somewhat private tour of the cars and were even allowed to take one special Bentley out along 17-Mile Drive for a quick photoshoot. Now that's what we call service. Big thanks to Rob Williams of The Auto Collections. These are the same guys who manage the Imperial Palace Collection we profiled a little while back in our "Warehouse Wonders" series.
You can see a full rundown of all of their featured cars by clicking here, but some highlights for us included the Porsche 930S Slantnose Prototype, Martini Racing 935, and 911 RSR, the BMW M1, 1931 Voisin, 1949 Ford "Lucille" Coupe, 1963 Z06 Corvette, Bugatti Type 57C, Alfa 6C 2500 and 1900SS Ghia Special, and the cute-as-a-button Lancia Aurelia B20 GT Coupe. Oh, and we can't forget that beautiful 1938 Bentley 4 1/4 Liter Vanvooren Coupe. Check out the gallery and find your favorite. It might still be available.
