VIDEO: New BMW X5 in motion

Following the fast unveiling of its new large Sport Activity Vehicle, BMW has released a series of videos showing the new X5 in motion. After seeing the X5 from every angle in this video, we've come to the conclusion that the vehicle's new shape is pleasant enough, though a bit boring. Though every body panel has been redone, most people won't be able to see the changes from thirty feet away. Park a current X5 next to the new one and the differences will be obvious for sure, but without a basis of comparison the new X5 looks too much like its predecessor, in our opinion. The market will let us know whether that's a good or a bad thing when the new X5 finally goes on sale here in the U.S.

Nice scoop Autoblog! One comment I would like to leave is that although it's the first time I've seen the new X5 in action thus making the video instantly cool, it would have been a more entertaining experience to hear some commentary in addition to the background noises of the car and environment. It was just too boring after the first minute, and for the last 8 minutes, I pretty much tuned out... Maybe the specs, with some nuggets of car geek information from the BMW press release. I don't know, anything to keep the viewer a little more engaged than just the car going through motions. Just my 2 cents.

It looks a lot better moving around than standing still......I don't hate it anymore, but it's way ugly none the less, I hate the rear bumper and I really hate the fact that the front bumper is interupted by the grill. At very least they kept the grill attached to the hood, other than that I hate it. It looks funny, the 3rd row looks like a novelty, it doesn't look very functional at all. Have you ever been inside the nissan armada? Nissan really thought about the functionality of the third row. BMW did not. It looks like a bloated X3....whats the difference between the X3 and X5 now, a 3rd row....a terrible 3rd row at that. And what is with with these souless barren deco, novelty interiors that bmw is putting in thier cars now? it makes me so sad because they used to have great driver oriented interiors that wrapped around you and hugged you like a loving mother. I used to love you bmw.

In all seriousness, this is one of the worst translations of the Bangle design scheme onto BMW vehicles. The Seven, I got used to. The Three, I liked. The Five, im still coming to grips with. The X3 I didnt mind. But this, I must say, is just wierd.
