Chicago Auto Show: 2007 Dodge Charger SRT8 Super Bee world premiere
Alright. So perhaps calling a trim-and-tape a "world premiere" is stretching things a bit, but as Dodge appears to be claiming the Charger SRT8 Super Bee as something of a distinct model, we figured we'd do likewise.
As reported late last month, the SRT8-exclusive trim yields the availability of Detonator Yellow paint, and includes complementary stitching on the seats, shift knob and wheel (the interior was, for reasons beyond us, off limits, but we'll update if Dodge coughs up the keys).

Excuse me, what year is this?
My calendar says 2006, not 1966. Apparently the boys at SRT are working in a time warp.

I love the throwback treatement on the Charger. Muscle cars are all about bright colors and stripes. I hope Ford is working on a 5.4L Boss Mustang, complete with stripes and even window louvers. That would look great.
It's a shame the new GTO never got a similar Judge option as people are putting retro hoods and stripes on them as it is.

The 4 door Charger is an abomination. Where the heck is the 2 door version they had at SEMA? The last designed Neons and SRT4s were far more attractive. Mebbe bring back the Neon and SRT4's and call em a Charger?

This was at NAIAS.
Where were you on this one?

DCX's reincarnation of the Super Bee sucks; it looks like it got rear-ended by a Freightliner.

yeah, this car was at the NAIAS in detroit, I think that was the "world premiere"
but, it's kinda lame IMHO...why? not because it has 4 doors, but because back in the day, the super bee was dodge's version of the Road Runner: a low buck, stripped down muscle car. I woulda preferred them to keep that philosophy by taking a $23k base charger, tossing the 5.7 in it (w/o power seats, dual zone climate control, leather, etc, etc) and having the Road/Track suspension (which is optional on the R/T) and price it at about $25-26k. I'd love an R/T or SRT8, but I don't need all the creature comforts or the associated price.

I think it is a shame these car manufacturing co. are using the old names on cars that look nothing like the
cars of the 60,s and 70,s. If you want to sell muscle cars make them to look like the old car.Look at the new GTO it seems to be a failure. Look at the new Mustang it seems to be going over great (it looks like a Mustang).
I have had Dodge and Plymouths since the 60,s I would not buy a new Superbee. The pictures of the new Challenger look good but we will have to see if the production cars look like a Challenger of old or just
another FAT new car.

Dodge took some chances using the name with non-retro styling but I believe made the right choice. You have to admit unique lines, a stock 350 HP Hemi and attitude with room to add on a lot more. Sure a Hurst manual and a two door version would take it over the top.....all in good time. It is "modern day muscle" so enjoy the creature comforts. Love the old 68-70 Charger from "my" old days, but that rectangle on wheels really belongs in that era.

Since when does a muscle car have 4 doors, shame on you dodge for disgracing a classic name.Should have built the concept version from a few years ago, maybe then they could compete in nascar and not be such a joke. How can dodge claim it as AMERICAN muscle when the car is made in CANADA and the hemi is made in MEXICO.Shame on you chrysler for disgracing the hemi name. How many Mexicans,Japanese, and Chinese do you see driving american cars, not many. But the automakers seem to cater to them and send them our jobs, and they don't even buy the product.

The Super Bee was a Coronet. This is a Charger, and not a very good one. Dodge really missed an opportunity to bring the Charger back. The second edition that was introduced in 1968, is the best Dodge effort ever. This new car misses that completly.

Hey...........January 1, 2006 or new Top Banana Charger R/T arrived after 3 months of waiting for it to be built. Like it or not, we love this car. If you all want a 1968 to 1970 2-door Charger.......go find one. This is 2006, not 1968. If ya don't like 'em, don't buy 'em. We love it....four doors and all. Oh, and by the way, we also have 4 1968 Dodge Chargers as well. Have fun with those Mopars, regardless of the year!!

Fastest bananna in the south. LOL. Only thing worse would be a General Lee edition. Oops!! I've said too much. I'm glad I owned a real Charger once.

Its a shame Dodge, R & D out to lunch? One can only wonder why, especially when attempting to compete with foreign autos, you give "us" this!
Come on folks, you can do much better. You did it once before, remember?
Suggestion: Don't get rid of your truck or Dodge may go the way of Desoto and Plymouth ...
