We can say we are surprised by some of the data coming at us during this the sales reporting day.
GM reported sales down just 1 percent from last year
and is seeing many “launch” vehicles like the G6 and LaCrosse picking up steam.
Honda also has reported stronger sales seeing over
3,800 Ridgelines out the door to boost their truck numbers to their highest.
Toyota is no surprise, seeing a 10 percent gain from
last year with strong sales from the new Avalon (8,625) and Scion with 13,855 units.
Ford surprised with a weak 5.5 percent drop. Most of
the losses in the truck department.
DaimlerChrysler saw a jump of 7 percent. MB rose 2 percent and the Chrysler brand was up 8 percent. In the
race for best selling mid-size pickup, the Chevy Colorado posted an all-time best month at 14,089 units (32,523 for the
year) versus the Toyota Tacoma at 13,729 units (34,094 for the year).
