Ford gets to work on reducing number of executives

The top shelf of Blue Oval execs will be a little lighter this coming March as some management shuffling will result in a reduction of the number of Ford’s corporate officers by four. The commitment to reduce its corporate office ranks is part of Ford’s restructuring plan, and as a result the company’s Product Development organization will now be run by two execs instead of three and its Marketing, Sales and Service organization will be lead by three execs instead of four.

The most significant change that begins this watershed is the announcement that Ford’s group vice president,
North America Marketing, Sales and Service, Stephen G. Lyons, is retiring and being replaced by Cisco Codina, the
soon-to-be former vice president and president, Ford customer Service Division. The other executive changes are
basically promotions that fill the subsequent roles left vacant by the upwardly mobile. A few positions, however, will
be eliminated, which accounts for the 12-percent reduction in corporate officers.

  • Stephen G.
Lyons, 57, the Company’s group vice president, North America Marketing, Sales and Service, is electing to retire,
    effective March 1.
  • Cisco Codina, 54, succeeding Lyons , is elected Ford Motor Company group vice president,
