The Los Angeles Times has a very interesting story on a new Toyota automobile plant in Tijuana, Mexico that will
produce the Tacoma pick-up truck. After reading some comments about the money UAW workers make compared to the roughly
$5 an hour their Mexican counterparts make it is a shock anyone would choose to build in the U.S. That fact is also a
noticeable omission in the story. It is a terrific picture window into what’s happening in a burgeoning Mexico economy
but says nothing on how it affects U.S. manufacturing.
