During the first half of 2005, Toyota will bump up its Prius output from 10,000 cars a month to 15,000 a month,
mostly due to the U.S. backlog, which is currently hovering around six months. The Prius will be among Toyota’s highest
volume models built in Japan, ranking after the Corolla and Land Cruiser Prado. Toyota has considered moving additional
production to another plant in Japan, but for now they will continue to use the Tsutsumi plant near the Toyota HQ. The
50 percent increase will consist entirely of 2005 models.
The patient shall be rewarded: Toyota will increase Prius supply to meet insane U.S. demand
