This past weekend I was up on Lake Winnipesaukee in Wolfeboro, NH for some serious rural R&R. Coincidentally,
Wolfeboro was holding its ninth annual “Rendezvous” whereby antique and classic wooden boats and pre-1970s autos are
displayed on the town dock. I ogled many Fords, including an early Model F (I think) from 1906 and numerous 1930s hot
rods, not to mention a screaming orange Willys. There were plenty of Vettes around, and I also slobbered all over a
gorgeous 1988 Shelby Cobra and a gigantic brown 1968 Rolls-Royce limo complete with Grey Poupon. Also the subject of
much attention was a genuine Aquacar from the 1960s, which gave me my first chance to peer underneath to check out the
sealed undercarriage and dual props. (There have, by the way, been recent confirmed sightings of an Aquacar cruising
down the Charles River in Boston with its top down.) Other non-car show-related highlights included a new yellow Dodge
Viper convertible, what appeared to be a Ferrari 456, and myriad vanity license plates, which seems to be a New
Hampshire specialty. My personal favorite was a Honda Civic Hybrid sporting LOCO2.
Did you see any remarkable rides this weekend? If so, make yourself known.
