Nissan reveals hybrid Altima prototype

A Nissan Altima powered by a gas-electric hybrid engine will make its debut in the U.S. in 2006. The motor, which borrows parts from the Toyota bin, is said to be capable of producing V6-like acceleration. Nissan firmly believes that it is not necessary to sacrifice a pleasurable driving experience in order to reduce emissions. Nissan made an agreement with Toyota in 2002 stating that they would produce 100,00 hybrids using Toyota components, although Nissan was charged with developing their own engine.
