Mazda tells its employees to take a walk

For their health and the environment, that is. As part of its new, more aggressive environmentally-friendly policies, Mazda is paying employees around fourteen dollars a month to walk to work or use public transportation instead of using their vehicles. Called the “Eco-walk commutation allowance”, the program is only being made available to domestic employees (i.e., only in Japan) who meet certain criteria. There are currently no plans to apply the program beyond Japan. While we applaud creativity, we prefer Mazda’s other green polices.
