The Marine Corps took the wraps off new high-tech Humvee-mounted technology last
Thursday at Bellows Air Force Station in Hawaii. The vehicle includes advanced satellite and wireless technology
and allows for communication while traveling at speeds up to 30 mph. Previously, vehicles had to stop and set up a
communications assembly before soldiers could communicate long distances or download any information. Not only
will the technology save Marine lives because it reduces the need for the vehicle to become immobile, but it will also
enable troops to communicate in areas where infrastructure was incapacitated by disasters like Hurricane Katrina or
Asia’s tsunami of last year.
